About Sander Berkouwer
the Early yearsI was born and raised in a little village in the Netherlands called 'Vlaardingen'. This is a small city near Rotterdam named after a small river that runned through it in the twelfth century. It houses around 55000 people, some of which are my family.
Study & HobbiesI moved to Schiedam when I started studying at the Delft University of Technology. I tried five years to become a B.Sc. in Industrial Design Engineering but after five years it was clear that wasn't what I was meant to do. In my spare time I started putting computer components together and upgrading my PC twice a year. By then I was totally into Microsoft Windows for Workgroups 3.11, Windows 95, NT4 Server, Novell Netware and a little bit of Slackware Linux. This was in no way relatable to my studies. Choosing between my hobbies and my studies was a no-brainer!
Work & HobbiesI got introduced at
Operator Groep Delft (short: OGD) by a friend. Back in those days OGD was a little company that provided IT Services, specialized in helpdesk, systems administration and projects. In the years that I work for OGD I've seen it grow to the company that it is now. A serious player in the Dutch IT service market, with nearly 1000 employees, its own project team and of course Microsoft, Novell and Citrix Gold partnerships. I am fortunate to work for a straightforward, honest and down-to-earth company like this and to work together with legends like
Paul van Geldrop.
Private lifeIn the same year I started working (the millenium year) I met my wife and three years later we got married. She is and has been the constant factor in my life and I'm very lucky she's a part of my life.
CertificationsAmong my certifications you will find a MCSA and a MCSE certification. I've been a Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) since January 2001.
