How I write my posts
I write my blogposts in a certain way with a certain structure. Understanding how I write my posts might prove useful.
Topic and title
Every blogpost has a topic and a title. I always try to make sure you know the topic of a post after reading the first few lines. My intention is to provide an understanding of the situation, the question, the assumption or the technology before bombarding you, as my reader, with the things I want to say to you. This helps you decide whether the post is actually covering what you expect it to cover. If you followed a link from a search engine the first lines of my posts will make clear to you whether the link was useful. If the link wasn't useful you can skip the whole post to the point where it says "Further Reading", where I try to provide useful links.
The title of my posts might not always provide an adequate image for the contents. I tend to write titles in a slightly sarcastic or philosophic way. The perfect examples of this behavior are my 'the Road to Eldorado' and 'Everyday is a winding road' posts. The contents of the post provide a story that backs up the title, but before reading the story you might not click on the post.
Headings
To provide structure I use headings. When I try to create a certain situation and I find there are more ways to create it, I use headings to distinguish the multiple ways. Whenever I indulge in reminiscing on ancient technology I also always use a heading. This way you can skip various parts of my blog posts without getting tangled up or getting lost. Whenever you find yourself lost you can always scroll on to the conclusion to track back to the essence of the post.
Conclusion
I end my posts with a conclusion when I think a conclusion is needed. I place my conclusion at the end of my posts. If you don't have much time to read through a whole post you can just skip to the conclusion to catch the essence of the message in the post. Of course I tend to write my conclusions as spiced up as can be, because I still want you to read the whole post.
Further reading
My conclusions most of the time have a follow-up with "Further reading". This is section that provides links to other pieces of information regarding the topic of the post. Most of the time you'll find links to other bloggers and official sources. Whenever I reference a source of information anywhere in my post I repeat the link in this section.
Disclaimer
Whenever a piece of information needs a disclaimer I put one at the very end of my post. I usually write a piece of disclaimer when I wrote a post on beta software, or when I expect to hurt the feelings of a specific group of people. Headings for the disclaimer texts are usually red.
