As some of you might know I love VMWare Workstation. I have been using it for ages now. The coolest feature I like are the multiple snapshots I'm able to create. No matter what conference/seminar I go to or speak at it is always VMWare Workstation. Right now I'm using version 6.x

A while ago I got a new laptop (wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiddddddddddddddeeeeeeeeeee screen) which was x64 enabled. So I started with x64 Vista. After a presentation about RODCs I gave where Powerpoint kept killing itself over and over again, I decided to go back to x86 Vista. My first reason to install x64 Vista was the ability to run x64 VM guests. I decided I preferred to have a more stable environment than being able to install x64 VM guests. Today while installing a new W2K8 RC1 (November 2007) I mistakenly used the x64 ISO instead of the x86 ISO. It installed correctly! I always thought that to install x64 VM guests you needed to have x64 enabled HW and a x64 host. Well, I guess not! You can see it below I'm using a x86 host OS and a x64 guest OS. However, I must say the virtualization ship in BIOS is enabled. Not sure if it is because of that or not. At the moment I don't even care, because it just works! ;-)

Cheers,

Jorge
