Technology finally working for me.
Well its taken me a year to
get around to this and I am just about to move :(.
I wanted to get my IPAQ
5550 to work with my wireless network and use it to MSN, Skype and get mail.
First of all HP finally got
their act right and released a firmware update for the 5550 to support WPA. I
always run my wireless devices at WPA encryption strength. So once I had that
working I could get onto my home wirless network.
Then it was configuring my
firewall to allow the PPC’s MSN client to work which was tricky as it seems
that the PPC’s MSN client has different handles to a normal PC’s MSN Client,
but never fear I eventually got it to work.
Once that was up and
running installing Skype was easy and getting all my different POP3 accounts
set in my PPC’s Outlook 2003 was easy to. Now I walk around with my IPAQ and am
always connected (At home). Not that I always want to be online but carrying a
IPAQ around is so much easier than a notebook.
Ilze isn’t to happy that I always
have my toy with me though :P
