Network Info Tool
One of my pet hates is getting to a network and asking an admin so tell me about your network layout. They proceed to talk about XP machines and when you raise the question “I meant forest and domain models” you get this very blank look. So instead of wasting your time you go and check yourself. A lot of the time the tools arent installed cause I mean “What are forest and domains” so you end up installing LDP and doing everything yourself. But this was cmd line tool and you actually still needed to know your Forest root dns name and this proved to difficult for some (agrr) so then I had this issue today. Again playing with .net 2.0 I went redesigning my app so that I could get all this info. .net 2.0 rocks in this respect (You can even force replication using .net 2.0 how cool is that).
